Mycenaean, ancient Greek. Late Bronze Age, c. 1500-800 BC. Nice bronze arrowhead. With triangular head, long tang, raised central midrib and two short barbs, one of which broke off in antiquity. An incredible and very large Greek bronze spear head, c. 1200-700 BC. Considered a "Trojan" spear, it is comprised of a long bronze spear blade with a prominently curved guard, which extends out from the ricasso of the pointed blade and partly frames the hilt, thick midrib extending slightly above the ricasso where it held the hilt. See similar spears and swords in Muscarella, O.W., Bronze and Iron Ancient Near Eastern Artifacts in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1988, pp.99-100.n Size: L: 57 cm, W: 5 cm. Ancient Greece, c. 1200-1000 BC. Amazing long bronze spear-point. From the world famous Axel Guttmann Collection. Green / blue crystallized patina, nice construction symmetry with supportive mid rib. It was attached to the arrow in antiquity by way of its tang. Intact and unrestored. 87 mm (just under 3 1/2") long. #6991: $140 SOLD


Extremely Rare Ancient Greek Bronze Arrow from Asia Minor, dating to 1200 - 800 BC. From the famous Axel Guttmann Collection. Long blade with raised central mid-rib terminating in a flattened tang. Enture blade has a cup-shaped curve. Great bright "river patina" tone. A very nice and interesting piece! Ref: Christie's UK, Wednesday 28th of April 2004, Sale 5524. With a leaf-shaped blade with raised central midrib, the long flared socket with two rivet holes where it would have been fastened to the spear shaft.
