Holy Land, Old Testament Period. Middle Bronze Age, from the time of Abraham! circa 2200-1550 BC. A rare small ceramic oil lamp. With wonderful style, teardrop-shaped body with deep bowl and steep edges that curve slightly over at the top. The outside of the body still shows traces of an original painted serpentine design. Made of gritty orange clay, and so delicate and thin, it is a marvel of preservation for close to 4,000 years! Intact except for a small rim chip.
