Ancient Greek Fibulae, Toga-Pins and Brooches


Ancient Greece, c. 5th-4th century BC. A fantastic and extremely rare SILVER fibula (toga pin). The high-arched body terminating in a somewhat rectangular plate curved upwards to a flared point, upon which is a finely decorated design comprised of two recessed concentric-rings and three raised pellets, tied together with trails of finely-incised dotted lines. The body of the pin is decorated with engraved decoration as well. Measures 4.7 x 2.6 cm (1 7/8" x 1"). Ex Los Angeles, CA private collection formed in the 1970's-1980's. #AG2287: $499

Ancient Greece, c. 8th - 7th Century BC.
Fantastic and MASSIVE Greek arch fibula. Made from a single piece of bronze, the body and triangular catch decorated with incised geometric designs, two holes through the lower part of the catch for attachment of hanging ornaments of some kind. The back end of the body, just above the coil, has been wrapped in a narrow bronze sheet, also with incised decoration. Nice light green patina. 4 7/8" x 3" (12.3 x 7.6 cm). Ancient Greece. A HUGE Hellenistic fibula, 3rd-1st Century BC. This large fibula mainly composed of iron with two large coils and part of the triangular pin catch. The body is wrapped with a thick bronze wire and resembles a long coil. Intact and superb for an iron fibula of this nature. 5 7/8" x 2 5/8". This must be seen in-hand!
